A Walk In The Night

One quiet night, when I was out for a walk,
I began romancing with some thoughts and words…!

The sun has set.

Another day comes to an end,

Lady night emerges on her throne,

Glittering! in all her jewels and gems.

The lane looks deserted and dark.

A few wheels scurrying back home,

And even fewer faces to be seen.

I love a walk at this hour,

When the dust of the day has settled,

And the noise of the city has muffled.

Streets turn empty but houses grow full,

The familiar noise of TV sets,

The sounds of children laughing.

The clanging pots and pans,

And the crackling mustard seeds.

That symphony takes you back

to a time, that was free from care.

Someone’s there on a balcony,

Talking to a distant loved one,

Sharing tales of love and longing.

A young lad passes by,

head in hoods & hands in pockets,

whistling a tune, carefree.

There is a magic in this hour,

As the heart speaks out

and the brain shuts down.

And so as I walk and take in this hour,

I think to myself and smile,

Another day has ended,

Another night to embrace and hold on to

till a new day dawns tomorrow.
